We deal with the submission process for federal projects, which begins with the announcement and ends with the submission in “easy-online”. The most important points such as the scope of the application, calculation and submission regulations are discussed. After the workshop, you will have an understanding of the technical submission and the general requirements of the application.

The DFG has been funding the training of doctoral students in Research Training Groups for 35 years. The program has evolved over the years, but the aim is and remains the promotion and development of innovative, interdisciplinary and international training concepts for the doctoral period. The Division 7 Research Management of the University of Cologne is organising an online workshop on the current call for ERC Synergy Grants in Horizon Europe in cooperation with the ERC National Contact Point.

Founded in 2007, the European Research Council (ERC) is the most important European funding organisation for excellent frontier research. With the Synergy Grants, the ERC supports a group of two to maximum four Principal Investigators working together and bringing different skills and resources to tackle ambitious research problems.

The workshop will be opened by Prof. Dr. Prof. Dr. Joybrato Mukherjee, Rector of the University of Cologne.
Afterwards, the staff from Department 74 International Funding, Department 75 Transfer, the Competence Center for Research Data Management (C³RDM) and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine will present their services. Then, Isabel Herzhoff from the National Contact Point ERC will give an overview of the current call for proposals and tips on how to apply. ERC Synergy Grantee Prof. Dr. Pamela Perniss (Faculty of Human Sciences) and Prof. Dr. Björn Schumacher (CECAD / Faculty of Medicine) will give useful tips on preparing an ERC proposal.
Finally, the staff of Department 74 International Funding and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine will be availbale in an open Q&A session to discuss further questions.

The Division 7 Research Management of the University of Cologne is organising an online workshop on the current calls for ERC Starting and Consolidator Grants in Horizon Europe in cooperation with the ERC National Contact Point.

Founded in 2007, the European Research Council (ERC) is the most important European funding organisation for excellent frontier research. It supports researchers two to twelve years after the PhD who wish to establish or consolidate their own junior research group.

The workshop will be opened by Prof. Dr. Claus Cursiefen, Vice-Rector for Research. Afterwards, the staff from Department 74 International Funding, Department 75 Transfer, the Competence Center for Research Data Management (C³RDM) and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine will present their services. Then, Katharina Spannhake from the National Contact Point ERC will give an overview of the current calls for proposals and tips on how to apply. ERC Starting Grantee Prof. Dr. Matthias Heinz (Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences) and Prof. Dr. Malte Gather (Humboldt Centre for Nano- and Biophotonics), ERC Panel Member, will give useful tips on preparing an ERC proposal. Finally, the staff of Department 74 International Funding and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine will offer individual consultations after the workshop.
